The 2007 Splieth Regatta was over the weekend (24th - 27th August).
Friday: Started with boat handovers a skippers brief and some crew training in the förde followed by a wonderful roast dinner in the Yacht Club
Saturday: After breakfast, skippers brief was at 0845, weather forecast was North East 4. After a warm up cans race in Heikendorfer Bucht the fleet were off on a passage out of the förde to one of the yellow cable markers by Kiel Light and back to Strande bucht. A brief stop for a lunch was followed by more round the cans courses and a another passage race. The evening meal at the club was curry.
Sunday: 0845 saw the skippers brief come and go, todays racing was to start in Heikendorfer Bucht again. The warm up round the cans followed by a passage race of about 12 miles with a finish just off Wentdorf. A hearty pea soup with bockwurst, meatballs and salad was laid on in tentage by the shore party. The younger generation were then employed with a treasure hunt for about an hour. A passage race of about 10 miles with a finish off the jetty rounded the day off nicely. BBQ was the order of the night in the club.
Monday: Another 0845 brief and a quick trip to Heikendorf for the last of the racing where two triangle courses were quickly completed.
The prizes were kindly presented by Mrs Bea Kingdon. Shepherds pie followed for lunch in the club. Boats were then cleaned up and handed back before the crews started thier journies home.
