The 2006 Splieth Regatta was held over a long weekend (25th - 28th August).
Friday: Started with boat handovers a skippers brief and some crew training in the förde followed by a curry supper.
Saturday: After a nice late breakfast, skippers brief was at 0845, weather forecast was light air from the North. Racing was this year held in Heikendorfer Bucht (hence the late breakfast and skippers brief); starting with some short swift windward/leeward courses. A brief stop for a lunch was followed by the Compass race and more round the cans courses. The evening meal at the club was mexican with fish fingers and chips for the youngsters.
Sunday: 0845 saw the skippers brief come and go, todays racing was to start in Heikendorfer Bucht again. The morning was taken up with a selection of round the cans courses followed by a passage race of about 10 miles with a finish line off the jetty. A salad lunch was laid on in the club house. The afternoon was fun time, this was a passage race of about 6 miles with a timed start from the moorings, again finishing off the jetty. There followed a mini-events type competition with crews displaying thier skipping and dribbling skills. this was rapped up by a dinghy race where all of the competetors got a little more than wet. BBQ was the order of the night in the club.
Monday: Another 0845 brief and a quick trip to Heikendorf for the last of the racing where two windward/leeward courses were quickly completed.
The prizes were kindly presented by Mrs Bea Kingdon. This was followed by a shepherds pie lunch in the club. Boats were then cleaned up and handed back before the crews started thier journies home.
