The 2005 Splieth Regatta was held over a long weekend (26th - 29th August).
Friday: Started with boat handovers a skippers brief and some crew training in the förde followed by a roast dinner and a few stories in the bar.
Saturday: Skippers brief at 0800, weather forecast was SW F5 possible thunder storms. Racing began at 0945 in Strande Bucht starting with some short swift windward/leeward courses. A brief stop for a sandwich and tea was followed by the Compass race and more round the cans courses. After an evening BBQ there were a few taller stories told between the disco and dancing.
Sunday: 0800 saw the skippers brief come and go, todays racing was to be held off of Wentdorf. The morning was taken up with a selection of round the cans courses. A picnic lunch was held in Wentdorf marina where the home team set up tents a bar and put on an excellent selection of chicken/beef curry and lasagne. The afternoon was fun race time, this was a treasure hunt around the förde followed by a dinghy race where most of the competetors got a little more than wet. Diner in the club was on a Greek theme, and yes there were more stories.
Monday: Another 0800 brief and a quick trip to Strande Bucht for the last of the racing where two windward/leeward courses were quickly completed.
The prizes were kindly presented by Mrs Caroline Richards. This was followed by another outstanding lunch in the club. Boats were then cleaned up and handed back before the crews started thier journies home.
