The International Icebreaker Regatta, a tri-club competition each with a three boat team between British Kiel Yacht Club (BKYC), Kieler Yacht Club (KYC) and Norddeutscher Regattaverein (NRV) was held over the weekend of the 9 – 10 Aprll. The event started on Friday evening with an excellent dinner in KYC. The racing took place in Strande Bucht on Saturday, starting with a compass race and then followed by windward-leeward courses of about 45 minutes in duration. The 'Icebreaker' lived up to it's name with a cold North Westerly blowing in snow and hail showers. Stickenhorn Reede was the location for Sunday morning, finishing off the series with more windward-leeward courses. Before a hearty steak and kidney Sunday lunch with a few beers (thank you Holsten) Frau Jenne kindly presented the following trophies:
